PICASSO OF MALAGA
FROM 25TH OF JUNE TILL THE 30TH OF SEPTEMBER 2012
PICASSO MUSEUM MALAGA

The exposition “Picasso of Malaga” describes with paintings, from Picasso but also from other artists of the Malaga art scene by that time, the periods Pablo Ruiz Picasso has been staying in the capital of the Costa del Sol, where he was born in 1881, on the 25th of October.
At the age of 10 he left Malaga with his parents to move to North Spain, Galicia, namely La Coruña, where his father was an art teacher. Four years later he moved to Barcelona, to end up in 1904 in Paris.
Since the first day he left Malaga he has been coming back there several times, for the last time in 1901. This must definitely have had impact on his work and that is exactly what this exhibition will try to relate, since Picasso never denied his andalusian origin.

With the selection of the works and paintings Picasso Museum Malaga wants to try to reconstruct the shape, the surface and features of Malaga by that time, with paintings of objects and personages of Picasso’s childhood.
Apart from paintings the exposition will also show documents and objects related to the 19th Centuries society and daily life in an Andalusian city by that time, with Picasso and his family put central in this context.
