THE MODERN EUROPEAN POSTER

From the 18th of June till the 16th of September 2012 Picasso Museum Malaga will bring a tribute to the Modern European Poster, a selection chosen from the most important and exclusive collections in the world.
Man Ray - "Women With Long Hair"At the European Modern Poster Exhibition the work of some 100 artists will be shown and the idea is to chart the tremendous artistic, ‘advertising’ becoming art and technical evolution, like more modern printing possibilities, of the poster during the 20th Century.
V. Lebedev
The exhibition in the Picasso Museum Malaga contains 3 meaningful and suggestive eras of the illustrious years of watchers. A first part will concentrate on the more Avant-garde side of the art of posters, basically inspired upon the Bauhaus movement, Surrealism and Futurism. Work of artists like Rodchenko, Man Ray and Vladimir Lebedev will be present.

A second part welcomes contemporary artists like Henri Cartier-Bresson and Jules Chéret with the more non artistic and aesthetic side of the poster. Definitely Cartier-Bresson is well known for his city-life posters, especially Barcelona and Paris. Both cities are also omnipresent in Pablo Picasso’s life and work.
Jean Carlu - "To All Europe"
The third and last section will focus in the period between the 1st and the 2nd World War, sometimes seen as the most productive period, The Golden Age. Jean Carlu, Bauberger, Colin, Cassandre and Bayer are one of the most significant artists of this era.
